RELEASE NOTES
Invalidate or deactivate a competency, retry after a fail, see turn history and time spent, and add local references in Compassly v2.4.
Sometimes an organisation needs a competency to stop counting as valid while concerns about someone's practice are looked at. Managers can now invalidate the competency, and must give a reason when they do.
The competency then shows as invalidated wherever its status appears, including its certificate. To revalidate it, the person can repeat the original assessment, or your organisation can configure exactly which steps are needed to revalidate it, such as a focused reassessment or a supervised period of practice. Whoever reassesses sees the reason, who recorded it and when, and can open the original competency record.
Deactivation is for a competency that has lapsed because it is no longer maintained in regular practice, such as during long leave or a career break. A deactivated competency is no longer valid, but it stops showing as late in reporting.
Managers give a reason when they deactivate it. When the person returns to practice, a Manager can reactivate the competency and the person completes the stages set for reactivation, with the reason, who recorded it and when shown alongside.
When someone reaches the number of fails allowed on a stage, the competency now shows as failed. It stays failed until a Supervisor chooses to start a fresh attempt, which leaves room for a pause first, such as further training. The failed attempt moves into the competency's history.
On stages marked by a supervisor, the status now shows which turn it is on, such as "Turn 5: Awaiting supervisee edits". You can open the history of turns to see each hand-over between supervisee and supervisor, and when it happened.
Compassly also records time spent: hours for a completed stage and days for a competency. Treat these as a guide, as they only count time actively spent in Compassly. Together, the turns and timings help build a picture of how long work on each stage takes, both the time actively spent and the overall time elapsed.
Organisations using competencies from a shared library can now add their own local references to a competency, such as their local policy. The shared competency stays the same for everyone else.
Try it now in Compassly, or contact us to book a demo.
