Job descriptions that fit

A staff ID badge on a lanyard beside a pencil writing on a blank name card

When you assign a job description, you can now edit its name so it matches the person's actual role. Organisations can keep a general template, such as District Nursing Lead, without building lots of near-identical versions for every variation, while each person still has the name of their own role, such as District Nursing Lead (Nights). The name can be changed later too.

Assigning is smoother as well. Compassly builds the job description in the background once you submit it, showing it as publishing while it does, so you can move straight on. It also tells you if a service or role still needs choosing.

Clearer multiple choice marking

A clipboard of answer boxes, one ticked and one crossed, under a magnifying glass

Building on v2.7, multiple choice marking is now quicker to read at a glance. The answers a supervisee selected stand out more clearly against the pass and fail answers.

When a stage fails, Compassly now gives more context: how many failed questions will fail the stage, and how many were marked as failed.

Team membership in the app

You can now add people to teams manually, straight from the app. This helps when someone belongs in a team their job description would not place them in automatically, such as bank staff working temporarily in different areas, a colleague who covers a neighbouring ward, or someone whose role doesn't fit neatly into a standard job description.

The View Teams button on your profile is now called View Membership, which makes clear that it shows the teams you belong to.

Other improvements

Prerequisite competencies now extend to retrospective sign-off as well, giving organisations the same control over every route to completion.

When a competency is updated, the message people see now includes the new version and its date, giving more context about the change. A clearer warning also appears before a major update, which cannot be undone.

If a device doesn't meet Compassly's security requirements, the message people see now links to guidance on what to do next.

We've also made some smaller improvements that we think will help usability, such as team lists in alphabetical order and organisations you have left now grouped as Inactive organisations.
