v3.5: Pending fail review before a competency fails

A final failed attempt now waits for review, so a Super Manager can confirm the fail or roll the stage back for another try, in Compassly v3.5.

A fail held for review

Reaching the fail limit on a stage fails the whole competency. Often that is the right outcome, but sometimes it is a slip, such as a misread question on a last attempt or a supervisor submitting a fail by mistake.

In v3.5, a result that would fail the whole competency is held as Pending fail instead. The competency is not marked as failed until someone has reviewed it.

Who reviews a pending fail

By default, a Super Manager reviews pending fails. Organisations with a Compassly licence can give this permission to other access levels, such as Managers, to match the way its teams work.

The reviewer has two choices. They can confirm the fail, and the person starts the competency again. Or they can roll the stage back to just before the failed attempt, so the person can have another go.

Pending fail is optional, and competency authors decide whether to use it for each competency. Where an automatic fail is the right rule, it can stay that way.

Other improvements

Late and due soon email notifications now show the person's full name, matching the other notifications Compassly sends.
