Supervisor sign-off controls

A competency record with two sections signed off and one locked, beside a shield

Organisations can now control who is allowed to sign off competencies. By default, any Supervisor with access to someone's profile can sign off their competencies, and organisations can now add rules where their governance needs them.

You can now set rules for a whole competency, for specific sections within it, for the final sign-off and for retrospective sign-off. You can also require a Supervisor to hold a competency themselves before they can sign anyone else off on it.

This helps wherever different people assess different parts of a competency. Organisations using the UKONS SACT Competency Passport, for example, can have clinical assessors sign off the practical sections while an educator signs off the theory, so each organisation applies its own governance in Compassly rather than through manual checks.

Supervisor controls are included for organisations with their own Compassly licence. Organisations using the UKONS or BOPA passports free of charge can add them as a paid feature, so get in touch to find out more.

Competency tags and reference codes

Competency cards sorted into three colour-tagged stacks, with one more card being filed

You can now tag competencies and organise those tags into groups. You might create a "Risk" group with High, Medium and Low tags, a "Staff group" group with a tag for each role, and a "Care setting" group to separate acute and community competencies. Tags can be colour coded, so patterns stand out at a glance.

Three tag groups, each with its own colour-coded tags.

You can also give each competency a reference code. Reference codes link a competency back to the source material it was written from, keep large libraries in order, and let you join Compassly data with other systems in your organisation.

Both tags and reference codes are available in reporting, so you can filter and analyse competency data across your teams.

Professional registration numbers

A competency certificate with the registration number line highlighted and a seal

Users can now add their professional registration number in Settings, under Account and then Professional Registrations, and it then appears on their competency certificates.

This is live for pharmacists using the BOPA SACT Verification Passport. It can be extended to other professions, so speak to us if you have a particular use for it.

Team notification controls

A bell rings above three colleagues standing together, with a turned up dial beside it and small sound marks beside each person's head.

Managers and Supervisors who oversee several teams can now choose which of those teams they receive notifications about. You can keep broad oversight while only being alerted straight away about the teams that need it, which matters most for senior staff who would otherwise get hundreds of updates.

Employee profile details

An ID badge on a lanyard showing a small portrait and lines of detail, with a green tick on its corner, beside a briefcase.

Supervisors and Managers can now see more about the people in their teams: who added them to the organisation, which email address they use, whether that address is verified, and a log of their recent logins. That makes it easier to check engagement, sort out access problems and answer questions without raising a support request.

Access to these details is permission controlled. It is set to Super Manager by default and can be changed for each organisation.

Other improvements

The individual competency screen has a cleaner layout. Admins can also view the live competency library in the admin panel without creating a draft first, which saves time when you only want to check what is published.

You also have more control over renewals, with the option to void draft renewals and view historic renewal records directly in the app.
