Accessibility statement for Compassly
This accessibility statement applies to the Compassly platform, which comprises:
• The Compassly web application at app.compassly.com
• The Compassly iOS application available from the Apple App Store
• The Compassly Android application available from the Google Play Store
The Compassly platform is provided by Tefogo Ltd, a UK company registered in England and Wales (12843582).
What Compassly does well on accessibility
Compassly was reviewed against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA by an independent specialist, and we have continued to make accessibility improvements in response to user feedback. The platform supports:
• Screen readers. Compassly is compatible with iOS VoiceOver and Android TalkBack. Non-text content has text alternatives. Buttons, links and form fields are identified by name. Headings and labels are clear and labels match their visible names.
• Keyboard and switch control. All functionality is reachable without a mouse or touch. There are no keyboard traps; users can move freely between fields and controls. Character key shortcuts work correctly with screen reader software.
• Visible, predictable focus. The current focus is visible at all times and is not obscured by other interface elements. Focus changes do not happen unexpectedly, and inputs do not trigger unrequested actions.
• Consistent navigation and identification. The navigation pattern is consistent across screens. Components that do the same thing are identified the same way throughout the app. Multiple ways to reach content are provided.
• Touch target sizes. Interactive controls meet the minimum target size for users with limited fine-motor control.
• Colour is not the only signal. Information conveyed by colour (for example, competency status) is also conveyed by text or icons, so users with colour-vision differences are not disadvantaged.
• Helpful input handling. Fields that ask for known data are marked so password managers and assistive technology can autofill correctly. Pointer gestures have simple alternatives, and pointer actions can be cancelled before they commit.
• Clear error suggestions. When a form input is invalid, the user is told what to correct and how to correct it.
How accessible Compassly is
Tefogo engaged an external accessibility specialist to review Compassly against WCAG 2.2 AA. We have implemented the recommendations from that review that are technically feasible within our application framework and consistent with the day-to-day usability of Compassly for clinical staff.
A small set of the specialist's recommendations could not be implemented in a way that we judged compatible with both the technical constraints of our framework and the broader usability of the platform for its primary users. Accessibility improvements remain part of our ongoing product work.
We are not currently pursuing a formal WCAG 2.2 AA conformance certification. Substantial accessibility work has been done; full conformance has not been audited and is not expected in the short to medium term.
How user feedback shapes our accessibility
Some of the most useful accessibility improvements in Compassly have come from individual users telling us where the platform was making their day harder. Where a user has raised a barrier they hit in their work, we have prioritised that change in the product backlog and shipped a fix. This kind of feedback is the most useful accessibility signal we have, and we welcome it.If you use Compassly with assistive technology, with reduced vision, with limited mobility, or with any other requirement that affects how you use the platform, please tell us. We will do our best to help and to make Compassly work better for you.
What to do if you cannot access something
If you have difficulty using any part of Compassly, or you need information from Compassly in a different format (for example: large print, audio, accessible PDF), please get in touch via our Contact Us page. We respond to accessibility requests within five working days. Where we cannot fulfil a request directly, we will discuss alternatives with you.
Reporting accessibility problems
If you find an accessibility issue that we have not already noted on this page, please tell us via our Contact Us page. Information that helps us investigate quickly:
• The URL or screen on which you encountered the problem
• The device and assistive technology you were using (if any)
• What you were trying to do
• A description of what happened (or did not happen)
Technical context
Compassly is built using the Flutter framework. Some accessibility features interact with Flutter in ways that do not always achieve full WCAG conformance. Where the specialist review identified items in this category that could not be implemented without degrading the overall experience for the broader user base, the gap is logged and tracked on our product backlog.
Compassly is not subject to the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018, because Tefogo Ltd is not a public sector body. We publish this statement voluntarily because Compassly is used by clinical staff in NHS trusts and other regulated healthcare organisations, and we want our position on accessibility to be transparent.
Preparation and version history
Tefogo reviews this statement at least annually and updates it when there have been changes worth recording. The latest version is always the one on this page. If the most recent version below is more than a year old, that means our annual review found nothing material to change.
• v3 (current). Tuesday 24 March 2026. Expanded the statement to set out what Compassly does support on accessibility, and to describe how real-world user feedback shapes the platform. Refined the technical context and clarified the position on the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
• v2. Tuesday 18 March 2025. Updated the contact details for accessibility requests.
• v1. Wednesday 20 March 2024. First publication, following the WCAG 2.2 AA specialist review of Compassly.
