For national passports

National competency passports, recognised wherever clinicians work

Specialist societies, networks and national bodies set the standards that clinicians in their specialty work to. Compassly turns those standards into a digital passport for the organisations they choose, kept current by its experts, with every clinician's progress recognised from one organisation to the next.

One standard, written once

A national passport, written once by the experts in a specialty, gives clinicians and employers one consistent standard wherever they work, and saves every hospital and provider writing its own version of the same competencies.

In Compassly that passport is fully digital, so it reaches every organisation that uses it straight away, and each clinician's progress travels with them.

Live with UKONS and BOPA

Two national oncology organisations run their passports on Compassly. More than 9,000 nurses use the UKONS SACT Competency Passport, in over 160 organisations across the UK and Ireland. More than 2,500 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians use the BOPA SACT Verification Passport, in over 160 organisations across the UK. Both passports are free for the clinicians who use them and for their organisations.

Both were developed in close partnership with their clinical leads, so each passport works the way its specialty does.

Simple for organisations to adopt

An organisation using a national passport simply registers in Compassly, and its staff can start straight away, with no extra system to manage. With a full Compassly licence, an organisation can also run its own competencies, preceptorship and other programmes alongside the passport, all under one login for staff. Organisations that want to tailor Compassly further without a full licence can add premium features, such as reporting on their own staff and their own local requirements and policies.

Where local equipment or practice differs, the passport's authors can build a short localisation into the passport itself, and Compassly applies it automatically when a clinician joins a new organisation. Everything else they have already completed counts from their first day.

Assessment built for each standard

Every passport's competencies are assessed exactly as its authors intend. Compassly works around how the experts say each competency should be assessed, not the other way round: theoretical and practical stages, evidence, answer guides for supervisors, declarations and sign-off by the right people. Every clinician is assessed to the same standard wherever they work, and renewal routes keep skills in date on whatever timing the authors have determined is appropriate.

Kept current by its experts

The passport's competency authors update it in one place, and every published change reaches every organisation and clinician using it, so practice keeps pace with national guidance without reissuing paper.

Compassly keeps a full version history and audit trail, and handles versions automatically. Anyone starting a competency begins on the latest version, nobody's work in progress is disrupted, and everyone renews against the latest standards.

Insight across every organisation

Full reporting dashboards show how your passport is used across all the organisations taking part, with breakdowns by region and organisation and detailed usage metrics within the passport itself. Individual users are anonymised, so you see the national picture while each organisation's staff records stay with that organisation.

Wherever you are starting

Some specialties already have a paper passport, some are bringing regional standards together into a national one, and some are starting from scratch. We work with you from wherever you are, bringing what we've learned building national passports with UKONS and BOPA. We can develop new competencies with your experts, and help improve existing ones as part of bringing them into Compassly.
